Iphone How To Change Default Music Player

After allowing users to change their default email and browser app on iOS/iPadOS, Apple has now paved the way to change the default music app on iPhone and iPad. Yes! You read it right. Perhaps, the tech giant has started to realise how pivotal it is to offer enough freedom for a personalised experience.

It is worth mentioning up front that the ability to choose your default music app on iPhone is currently available on iOS 14.5 developer/public beta and will soon be rolled out globally. Thus, if you are not running the latest iOS beta on your device, you will need to wait for this feature for a while. With that in mind, let's get started:

As interesting as it sounds, Apple has kept the ability to change default music app on iOS 14.5 a bit under the hood. Notably, the latest iteration of iOS does not offer a switch to set any music app such as Spotify or YouTube Music as the preferred choice. Then, how does this all-new feature work?

Well, you have to invoke Siri and ask it to do it for you. Once you direct the virtual assistant to stream music using specific music streaming app, it becomes business as usual thereafter.

Great Way Forward for Freedom-loving iOS Users

It has been a while since we started dealing with Apple devices at Rapid Repair. Though we have always admired the deep integration between software and hardware that the Cupertino-based company provides, we have never failed to pinpoint the lack of enough freedom to customise interface or set default apps.

While professionals such as our super techies are fine with neat iOS experience, many users especially the young ones like to go all out for customisation. Knowing that everyone has their preferences and way of living life, the desire to have full-on customisation should be accepted and allowed. It can go a long way in making iOS more popular.

By introducing home screen widgets, a well-thought-out App Library and the flexibility to select default email, browser and music app, Apple has already taken steps towards changing the landscape for a better user experience. While this newfound desire for more personalisation may be a slow start and many detracters may even suggest that it is nowhere near the plethora of customisation that Android offers, we think a lot is going to change sooner than later.

Gone are the days where iOS users could live with very little option for personalisation. As most iPhone users look for a life beyond jailbreak, the more freedom to customise iOS is in the offing. Knowing how aggressively Apple wants to put an end to the era of jailbreak, we can expect plenty of cool changes soon. As Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is just a couple of months away and so is the introduction of iOS 15. We hope for a feature-packed iOS with all the essential boxes ticked off.
